Description

The Abbe Picquet Trail is a short one-mile loop trail that winds along the St. Lawrence and Oswegatchie Rivers. A path spurring to the right towards the beginning of the trail passes by the historic Fort de la Presentation Monument. As the trail continues, there is a picnic area to the left and benches near the water. The trail loops around and returns to the parking lot.

Other Information

The Abbe Picquet Trail is a new trail that officially opened in the Summer of 2018; because of this updates and construction may be ongoing.

Trailhead Information

There is a paved parking lot located off of NY-68 that is clearly marked. The trailhead is marked with a large sign at the center of the parking lot.

Viewed Canada Geese, Osprey, Robins, Tree Swallows, Various seagull, ducks, cormorants, Rabbits, Squirrels, a few as yet unidentified birds.

Nice walk, we really appreciated the information board which had the aerial image of the location back when it was used by an oil company.
It just shows the amazing achievement to go from an environmental mess to a great place to visit.

Ogdensburg is undergoing a shoreline stabilization project in Summer 2021. During the work, parts of this trail may be fenced off.  Please respect any notices to avoid areas of the trail.
