Description

The Munter Trail, part of Clarkson University’s trail system, is a wide, level, packed sand trail that follows the Raquette River from the Maple Street Bridge south to the entrance of the Bayside Cemetery. Along the trail there are a number of picnic spots, as well as boardwalks perfect for fishing or enjoying the view of Fall Island.

Other Information

The closest public restrooms are located at the Stewart’s, a great excuse to pick up a cone of ice cream after your walk.

Trailhead Information

There are two main trailheads for the Munter Trail.

  • The northernmost trailhead is located at the rear of the Stewart’s Shop on Maple Street. Park in the spaces closest to the river.
  • A second trailhead with parking is just south of Stewart's, behind the Clarkson University Walker Arena and Hantz Field.

This trail will lead you to the site of the former Potsdam-Hannawa Railway bridge that crossed over from Oak Island to the mainland. An interesting story in the history of the area.
