This route highlights the rich, rural culture of the area of the lesser known slice of the Thousands Islands Region nestled within our county lines. The route begins on the shores of Black Lake and climbs through the quiet hamlet of Brier Hill. From there it descends along the river cliffs of the mighty St. Lawrence. Ride along the quiet side roads with views of the Thousand Islands, the river, and Canada to your right, and pastoral farmland to the left. Pass by several riverside homes with unique barn quilts posted on mailboxes and barns.
As you approach Chippewa Bay, breathtaking views of Singer Castle dominate the view. Ride into the historic village of Chippewa Bay and enjoy a mid-ride snack at the Chippewa Bay General Store. From there, climb back towards Hammond. Be sure to take a stop at the top of the hill to look back for an amazing panorama of the St. Lawrence River. The ride concludes after passing through the village of Hammond, and returning to the shore of Black Lake. This is truly one of the most scenic rides in the county.
